A four-bedroom retreat where nearly everything you see is for sale.
Five acres of avocado grove in Fallbrook, California, furnished entirely in antiques, mid-century designer pieces, and rare finds — each one available to take home.
About the residence
Helena Grove began with a simple idea — that the place you stay should feel like somewhere you'd actually want to live. So we filled a four-bedroom house with pieces worth keeping, and made every one of them available to take home with you.
It sits in Fallbrook, in the hills of north San Diego County: a quiet town of citrus and avocado groves where the afternoon light turns gold. Our five acres of trees wrap the house in shade and birdsong — far enough from everything to feel like a true retreat, close enough to reach within the hour.
And then there's the collection, which is what makes a stay here different — antiques, mid-century designer pieces, and rare, hard-to-find objects, each one sourced with intention. The rooms are refreshed between stays as new finds arrive. Fall for something while you're here, and it can leave with you.

From your hosts
This pocket of north San Diego County rewards slow exploring — citrus groves, tasting rooms, trailheads, and the coast all within easy reach. Here's where we'd point you first.
Downtown Fallbrook's village keeps a handful of cafés, bakeries, and tasting rooms within a few minutes' drive. Tell us what you're in the mood for and we'll send our current favorites.
Temecula Valley sits about thirty-five minutes north — dozens of wineries, long lunches, and hot-air balloons drifting up at dawn over the vines.
The surrounding hills and preserves offer easy walks that end with the whole valley glowing. Late afternoon, the grove itself turns to gold — bring a glass and a chair.
The coast at Oceanside and Carlsbad is roughly an hour away — wide beaches, the pier, and seafood worth the drive when you want sand underfoot.
This is avocado and citrus country, so roadside farm stands and local groceries are close by — everything you need to cook in for a quiet night at the house.
Some of the best hours here ask nothing of you at all: coffee on the patio, birdsong in the trees, and the pool to yourself before the day warms up.
